The problem considered is that of determining the stress field in the vicinity of a penny-shaped crack situated at the interface of an elastic half-space bonded to a rigid foundation, when the elastic solid is under shear. The solution is obtained from Muki's solution of the equations of elastic equilibrium in cylindrical coordinates, and then reducing the resulting system of dual integral equations to a Wiener-Hopf problem whose solution was obtained previously by \textit{D. A. Spence} [Proc. R. Soc. Lond., Ser. A 305, 81--92 (1968; Zbl 0172.50001)]. Closed form expressions are obtained for the components of stress in the plane of the crack which enable the relevant stress-intensity factors to be calculated and integral expressions are derived for the components of the displacement on the crack face.
