For \(0<p\leq u<\infty\), the Morrey space \(\mathcal{M}_{u,p}(\mathbb{R}^n)\) is defined to be the collection of all locally \(p\)-integrable functions \(f\) satisfying \[ \left\|f|\mathcal{M}_{u,p}(\mathbb{R}^n)\right\|:= \sup_{x\in\mathbb{R}^n, R>0}R^{\frac nu-\frac np}\left[ \int_{B(x,R)}|f(y)|^p\,dy\right]^{1/p}<\infty. \] Denote by \(\mathcal{S}(\mathbb{R}^n)\) the set of all Schwartz functions on \(\mathbb{R}^n\) and \(\mathcal{S}'(\mathbb{R}^n)\) its topological dual. For all \(\varphi\in\mathcal{S}(\mathbb{R}^n)\) and \(j\in\{1,2,\dots\}\), let \(\varphi_j(\cdot):=2^{jn}\varphi(2^j\cdot)\). Let \(s\in\mathbb{R}\), \(\tau\in[0,\infty)\), \(q\in(0,\infty]\) and \(\varphi_0\), \(\varphi\in\mathcal{S}(\mathbb{R}^n)\), respectively, satisfy \[ \mathrm{supp }\widehat{\varphi_0}\subset\{\xi\in\mathbb{R}^n:\;|\xi|\leq2\},\quad |\widehat{\varphi_0}(\xi)|\geq C\;\text{if}\;|\xi|\leq5/3, \] and \[ \mathrm{supp }\widehat{\varphi}\subset\{\xi\in\mathbb{R}^n:\;1/2\leq|\xi|\leq2\},\quad |\widehat{\varphi}(\xi)|\geq C\text{ if }3/5\leq|\xi|\leq5/3. \] For \(p\in(0,\infty]\), the Besov-type space \(B_{p,q}^{s,\tau}(\mathbb{R}^n)\) is defined to be the collection of all \(f\in\mathcal{S}'(\mathbb{R}^n)\) such that \[ \left\|f|B_{p,q}^{s,\tau}(\mathbb{R}^n)\right\| :=\sup_{P\in\mathcal{Q}}\frac1{|P|^\tau} \left\{\sum_{j=\max\{j_P,0\}}^\infty2^{jsq} \left[\int_P|\varphi_j\ast f(x)|^p\,dx\right]^{\frac qp}\right\}^{\frac1q}<\infty \] with the usual modification made in the case of \(p=\infty\) and/or \(q=\infty\). Write \(A_{p,q}^{s,\tau}(\mathbb{R}^n)\) instead of \(B_{p,q}^{s,\tau}(\mathbb{R}^n)\) or \(F_{p,q}^{s,\tau}(\mathbb{R}^n)\), where \(F_{p,q}^{s,\tau}(\mathbb{R}^n)\) denotes the Triebel-Lizorkin-type space. Let \(X\) be some quasi-normed function space on \(\mathbb{R}^n\). The growth envelope function \(\mathcal{E}_G^X:\;(0,\infty)\rightarrow[0,\infty]\) of \(X\) is defined by \[ \mathcal{E}_G^X(t):=\sup_{\|f|X\|\leq1}f^*(t),\quad\forall\,t\in(0,\infty), \] where \(f^*\) denotes the decreasing rearrangement function of \(f\). In this paper, the authors study smoothness spaces of Morrey type on \(\mathbb{R}^n\) and characterize in detail those situations when such spaces of type \(A_{p,q}^{s,\tau}(\mathbb{R}^n)\) are not embedded into \(L^\infty(\mathbb{R}^n)\). Precisely, the authors prove the following conclusions: (i) Let \(0<p<u<\infty\). Then \(\mathcal{E}_G^{\mathcal{M}_{u,p}(\mathbb{R}^n)}(t) =\infty,\;\forall\,t>0\). (ii) Let \(p\), \(q\in(0,\infty]\) (with \(p<\infty\) in case of \(F\) spaces), \(\tau>0\), and \[ \max\{n(1/p-1),0\}<s<n(1/p-\tau). \] Then \(\mathcal{E}_G^{A_{p,q}^{s,\tau}(\mathbb{R}^n)}(t) =\infty,\;\forall\,t>0.\)
