Let \(H_0\) be the Dirac operator in \(L^2(\mathbb{R}^3)\) and \(H=H_0+VI_4\), where \(V(x)\) is a real function such that \(\int_{|V(x)|>\varepsilon}|V(x)|^3dx<\infty\). It is proved the following inequality for the number of eigenvalues of the operator \(H\) belonging to the interval \([-\sqrt{1-\lambda},\sqrt{1-\lambda}]\): \[ N(\lambda,V)\leq\text{const }\int_{|V(x)|>\lambda/4}[|V(x)|^{3/2}+ |V(x)|^3]dx. \] Optimality of the exponent 3 in the above inequality is shown. There are additional results for the case of radial potentials.
