It is shown that under certain conditions imposed upon the eyelets the standard (American style) lacing is the one that is most efficient in terms of minimal length of the lace needed to make up a lacing (i.e. a path in which all the eyelets \(A_0, \dots, A_n\), \(B_0, \dots, B_n\) are visited alternating, starting at \(A_0\) ending at \(B_0)\).
