First, the authors introduce a constitutive equation for a compressible isotropic nonlinear viscoelastic solid. The generalized Blatz-Ko model for compressible isotropic nonlinear elastic materials is used to describe the elastic behaviour. An intrinsic time is incorporated in the constitutive equation. Then, the constitutive equation is used to study cirular shear of a hollow cylinder which is bonded to a rigid support at its inner surface, and to a rigid shell at its outer surface. The quasi-static theory allows to reduce the problem to a system of Volterra integral equation. A method of numerical solution is presented together with numerical results and diagrams.
