The numerical solution of singular second-order linear differential eigenproblems by pseudospectral methods is considered. The case of a single critical point near an endpoint of the (finite) computational domain is investigated. The paper extends the authors' work [J. Comput. Phys. 122, No. 1, 13-24 (1995; Zbl 0835.76075)] by investigating the possibility of taking successive complex maps to improve the accuracy even further. These complex maps are polynomials of degree \(2^p\), where \(p\geq 1\) is the level of composition. Formulae for the optimal map parameters are deduced analytically and indicate that significant acceleration of the geometric rate of convergence is possible. A test problem is solved.
