This paper considers the technique of introducing artificial boundary conditions on the solution of Laplace's equation in three dimensions so as to improve the numerical estimates of the solution. In particular the paper introduces a nonlocal discretized procedure and approximates this procedure to obtain a sparse set of linear equations for the solution. In the last section several artificial boundary schemes are compared and a local scheme which uses differential operators to eliminate lower inverse powers of the radial variable \(r\), performs well.
