Consider a two-mode model for the transverse magnetization which is based on Suhl's theory and the Landau-Lifschitz equations. This model is represented by a system of two autonomous ordinary differential equations for complex variables depending on some parameters. The authors study the stability of the equilibria and establish a pitchfork bifurcation. Numerical investigations give evidence for the occurrence of a delayed bifurcation behavior, that means, the system stays after the exchange of stability near the unstable equilibric point and jumps after some time to the stable one. The observed behavior agrees with experimental investigations.
