The author considers the acoustic wave equation in a perturbed stratified medium in \(n\) spatial dimensions. Using a simplified version of Enss's method [cf. \textit{P. A. Perry}, Duke Math. J. 47, 187-193 (1980; Zbl 0445.47009)], it is shown that the wave operators exist and are complete.
