An Ol'shanskij space is a homogeneous space \({\mathcal M}=G\backslash G_{\mathbf C}\), where \(G\) is a real form of the complex Lie group \(G_{\mathbf C}\), such that there exists in \({\mathbf g}=\text{Lie}(G)\) a closed convex \(Ad(G)\)-invariant cone \(W\). Then, by a result of Lawson, \(S_W=G\exp (iW)\) is a closed semigroup in \(G_{\mathbf C}\) which defines a \(G_{\mathbf C}\)-invariant ordering on \(\mathcal M\). For \(G\) semi-simple, the Ol'shanskij spaces are special cases of ordered symmetric spaces considered by Faraut, Hilgert and Ólafsson. The authors develop for these spaces the theory of spherical functions, Volterra algebra and spherical Laplace transform, extending known results in the semisimple case to that general setting. In this general case one uses a decomposition of \(G\) as a semidirect product \(G=U\rtimes L\) where \(U\) is the nilradical of \(G\) and \(L\) is a reductive subgroup, to which there corresponds a factorization of the spherical functions. The authors obtain an integral formula for the spherical functions and an explicit formula. The asymptotic behaviour involves a \(c\)-function which is explicitly computed. The spherical Laplace transform of an invariant Volterra kernel is studied via the Abel transform, and an inversion formula for the spherical Laplace transform is established.
