Elliptic surfaces over a genus 1 curve with exactly the pair \((I^*_ 2,I_ 4)\) of singular fibers (Q2565283)

In this paper the author proves the existence of an elliptic surface \(\pi: E\to C\) over an elliptic curve \(C\), with a section and having exactly \((I^*_2,I_4)\) as singular fibers [cf. \textit{K. Kodaira's} list of singular fibers in Ann. Math., II. Ser. 77, 563-626 (1963; Zbl 0118.15802)]. The author translates this problems in terms of ramification of the \(J\)-map, proves that there are three possible cases, shows the existence for each case, then constructs the \(J\)-map and the required surface.
