Let \(D\) be a dense open subset of a compact metric space satisfying the interior corkscrew condition and \(G\) be a quasi-symmetric positive numerical function on \(D\times D\) (``Green function'') which has locally polynomial decay and satisfies Harnack's inequality. In this setting the author proves that the uniform boundary Harnack principle, the approximation for \(G\), and the generalized triangle property are equivalent. Moreover, these properties imply the \(3G\)-theorem. The above general result is then applied to classical Green functions on uniform domains and Green functions with respect to fractional Laplacian on domains satisfying the interior corkscrew condition.
