The paper describes the construction of a resolution of plane curve singularities in any characteristic. It is a complete description with all details using only elementary facts from algebraic geometry and commutative algebra. The proof follows the algorithmic idea of resolution of singularities: To a singular point \(p\in C \subset M\) (\(C\) an algebraic curve, \(M\) a smooth surface) an invariant \((r_p, s_p) \in \mathbb Z^2_+\) is associated (depending only on \(\widehat{\mathcal O}_{C, p}\)) which decreases strictly (with respect to the lexicographical ordering) under blowing up.
