This work is inspired by those on the trace formula (see the References, e.g. [\textit{L. Hillairet}, C. R., Math., Acad. Sci. Paris 335, 1047--1052 (2002; Zbl 1039.58024)]), in particular, the propagator for the wave equation and the associated propagation of singularities are used. As expected, it is essential to understand what happens when a singularity hits a critical point. The study of the wave equation in presence of conical singularities goes back to Sommerfeld and has been developed by many authors, e.g. \textit{J. Cheeger} and \textit{M. Taylor} [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 35, 275--331 (1982; Zbl 0526.58049), 487--529 (1982; Zbl 0536.58032)], \textit{F. G. Friedlander} [Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 90, 335--341 (1981; Zbl 0471.35047)], \textit{P. Gérard} and \textit{G. Lebeau} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 6, 341--424 (1993; Zbl 0779.35063)], \textit{R. Melrose} and \textit{G. Uhlmann} [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 32, 483--519 (1976; Zbl 0396.58006)]. Concerning the trace formula, this work is linked with \textit{E. Bogomolny}, \textit{N. Pavloff} and \textit{C. Schmit} [Phys. Rev. E (3) 61 (4, Part A), 3689--3711 (2000)], in which the approach is slightly different since the authors use the resolvent instead of the wave propagator but their results are consistent with these. One peculiar feature of the approach used in this paper is the constant use of the theory of Fourier integral operators (FIO).
