A weighted Sobolev type theorem for the Riesz potential \(I^{\alpha}\) on \(\mathbb{R}^{n}\) is proved: sufficient conditions on the function \(p\) and on the constants \(\gamma_{0}\) and \(\gamma_{\infty}\) for the continuity of the operator \(I^{\alpha}:L^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb{R}^{n}, \rho_{\gamma_{0},\gamma_{\infty}}) \rightarrow L^{q(\cdot)} (\mathbb{R}^{n}, \rho_{\mu_{0},\mu_{\infty}})\) are provided. Here \({1\over{q(x)}}={1\over{p(x)}} - {\alpha\over{n}}\), \(\mu_{0} = {{q(0)}\over{p(0)}} \gamma_{0}\), \(\mu_{\infty} = {{q(\infty)}\over{p(\infty)}} \gamma_{\infty}\) and \(\rho_{\gamma_{0},\gamma_{\infty}}(x)= | x|^{\gamma_{0}}(1+| x |)^{\gamma_{\infty}-\gamma_{0}}\). The proof is based on estimates previously obtained in [\textit{S. Samko}, Fract. Calc. Appl. Anal. 6, 421--440 (2003; Zbl 1093.46015)]. A similar result for the spherical analogue of the Riesz operator is also proved.
