Let \(G= \text{Sp}(2,\mathbb R)\) be the real symplectic group of order two, realized as a closed subgroup of \(\text{SL}(4,\mathbb R)\). Let \(P=MAN\) be the standard minimal parabolic subgroup of \(G\) and let \(G=NAK\) be the corresponding Iwasawa decomposition of \(G\), where \(K\) is some fixed maximal compact subgroup of \(G\), \(A\) is a maximal split torus of \(G\) and \(N\) is a nilpotent subgroup of \(G\). Observe that here \(M\) is discrete and \(A\) is two-dimensional. For a (non-degenerate) unitary character \(\eta\) of \(N\) and a finite dimensional representation \((\tau, V_{\tau})\) of \(K\), define the vector space \(C^{\infty}_{\eta,\tau}(N\backslash G/K)\) of \(V_{\tau}\)-valued smooth functions \(\phi\) on \(G\) satisfying the condition: \(\phi(ngk)=\eta(n)\tau(k^{-1})(\phi(g))\) for all \(g\in G\), \(k\in K\) and \(n\in N\). Now if \(\sigma\) is an irreducible unitary representation of \(M\) and \(e^{\nu}\) is a character of \(A\), one defines the principal series representation \(\pi_{\sigma,\nu}\) of \(G\) as the representation induced from the \(P\)-representation \(\sigma\otimes e^{\nu+\rho}\otimes 1\), where \(\rho\) denotes the half-sum of positive restricted roots. Then the space of Whittaker functions for \(\pi_{\sigma,\nu}\) with \(K\)-type \(\tau\) is the subspace \(Wh(\pi_{\sigma,\nu},\eta,\tau)\) of \(C^{\infty}_{\eta,\tau}(N\backslash G/K)\) defined by the condition that the center of the enveloping algebra of the (complexification of the) Lie algebra of \(G\) acts scalarly via the infinitesimal character of \(\pi_{\sigma,\nu}\) on each Whittaker function. In the paper under review, the author gives a complete and explicit description of these Whittaker functions.
