The authors continue their study and improve results [in Arch. Math. 67, No. 5, 353-359 (1996; Zbl 0861.20032) and J. Algebra 222, No. 2, 574-594 (1999; Zbl 0971.20014)] on the conjugacy separability of certain HNN-extensions. The results are based on the notions of regular, conjugacy-regular and double coset separable groups at a pair of their elements (for the relevant definitions and properties see the paper). Here we quote some interesting results: 1. Let \(A\) be a polycyclic-by-finite group and \(h,k\in Z(A)\) be of infinite order. The group \(G=\langle A,t\mid t^{-1}ht=k\rangle\) is conjugacy separable if and only if \(\langle h\rangle\cap\langle k\rangle=1\) or \(h^n=k^{\pm n}\) for some \(n\geq 0\), in case where the group \(A\) is not cyclic. -- In case where the group \(A\) is cyclic the group \(G=\langle A,t\mid t^{-1}ht =k\rangle \) is conjugacy separable if and only if \(A=\langle h\rangle\) (or \(A=\langle k\rangle\)) or \(\langle h\rangle=\langle k\rangle\). 2. Let \(A\) be a finitely generated nilpotent group and \(h,k\in A\) be of infinite order such that \(\langle h\rangle\cap\langle k\rangle\neq 1\). The group \(G=\langle A,t\mid t^{-1}ht=k\rangle\) is conjugacy separable if and only if \(G\) is residually finite.
