Let \(T\) be a bounded linear operator on a Banach space \(X\). The authors discuss a necessary and sufficient condition for satisfying Weyl's theorem in terms of the notions of SVEP and Kato type operator. In fact, the authors show that: (1) \(T\) satisfies Weyl's theorem if and only if \(T\) or \(T^{*}\) has the SVEP at all \(\lambda\in \sigma(T)\backslash \sigma_{w}(T)\) and \(T\) is of Kato type at all \(\lambda\in \pi_{00}(T)\). (2) If \(T\) or \(T^{*}\) has the SVEP at all \(\lambda \in \sigma(T)\backslash \sigma_{w}(T)\) and \(T\) is of Kato type at all \(\lambda\in\)\,iso\,\(\sigma(T)\), then \(T^{*}\) satisfies Weyl's theorem. Next, by strengthening the hypothesis on the SVEP, the authors obtain a stronger result. Lastly, the authors exhibit some applications.
