Let \(H^{-1}_{0}(\mathbb{T}) = \{q\in H^{-1}(\mathbb{T});<q,1>=0\}\), \(H^{-1}(\mathbb{T})\) being the real Sobolev space of order \(-1\) on the torus and \(L^{2}_{0}(\mathbb{T}) = \{r\in L^{2}(\mathbb{T});<r,1>=0\}\). The main result of the paper states that the Riccati map \(R:L^{2}_{0}(\mathbb{T}) \rightarrow H^{-1}_{0}(\mathbb{T})\), \(R(r)= r'+r^{2} - \| r\| ^{2}\), is a real analytic isomorphism and that for any \(r\in L^{2}_{0}(\mathbb{T})\) the impedance operator \(T_{r} = -{{d^{2}}\over{dx^{2}}} - 2r{d\over{dx}}\) and the Schrödinger operator \(L_{q}= -{{d^{2}}\over{dx^{2}}} - q\) with \(q=R(r)\) have, up to a translation with \(\| r\| ^{2}\), the same periodic and Dirichlet spectrum. This theorem is used to derive spectral properties of \(L_{q}\) from known spectral properties of the impedance operator \(T_{r}\). The properties obtained generalize known results for the case of potentials \(q\in L^{2}(\mathbb{T})\).
