In 1987 R. L. Bryant proved a representation formula for surfaces of constant mean curvature 1 in hyperbolic 3-space \(\mathbb H^3(1).\) Using his representation formula, Bryant showed that constant mean curvature 1 surfaces in \(\mathbb H^3(1)\) are locally isometric to minimal surfaces in \(\mathbb E^3.\) In 1990, B. Palmer proved that there exists a one-to-one correspondence between space-like maximal surfaces in Lorentz 3-space \(\mathbb E_1^3\) and space-like surfaces of constant mean curvature \(\pm 1\) in de Sitter 3-space \(\mathbb S_1^3(1).\) In the paper, the author, motivated by Bryant's results, proves a Bryant type representation formula for space-like surfaces of constant mean curvature \(\pm 1\) in \(\mathbb S_1^3(1)\). This Bryant type representation is used to study an explicit one-to-one correspondence between space-like maximal surfaces in Lorentz 3-space \(\mathbb E_1^3\) and space-like surfaces of constant mean curvature \(\pm 1\) in \(\mathbb S_1^3(1).\) The hyperbolic Gauss map of space-like surfaces in \(\mathbb S_1^3(1)\) and the relationship between the holomorphicity of the hyperbolic Gauss map and space-like CMC \(\pm 1\) surfaces in \(\mathbb S_1^3(1)\) are studied.
