The following estimate is proved: let \(z_1,z_2,\dots,z_n\) be the zeros of the monic complex polynomial \(\sum_{k=0}^n a_kz^k\). Then the points \(z_i^2\) (\(i=1,2,\dots,n\)) have all modulus not greater than \[ 2 \max_{0\leq k \leq n-1} \biggl\{ \frac{| a_k| ^2+\sum_{j=1}^{n-k+1}| a_{k-j}a_{k+j}| }{| a_{k+1}| ^2} \biggr\}. \] The author notes that this bound can improve on the one obtained from squaring the classical Cauchy estimate for the size of the \(z_i\).
