This paper continues the series of notes on sectionally complemented lattices [see \textit{G. Grätzer} and \textit{H. Lakser}, Acta Math. Hung. 108, 117--127 (2005; Zbl 1093.06003) and Acta Math. Hung. 108, 253--259 (2005; Zbl 1093.06004), reviewed above]. In a recent survey article, \textit{G. Grätzer} and \textit{E. T. Schmidt} [Algebra Univers. 52, 241--278 (2004; Zbl 1090.06005)] raise the problem of when the ideal lattice of a sectionally complemented chopped lattice is sectionally complemented. The only general result is a 1999 lemma of theirs, stating that if the finite chopped lattice is the union of two ideals that intersect in a two-element ideal \(U,\) then the ideal lattice of \(M\) is sectionally complemented. In this paper, the authors present examples showing that in many ways their result is optimal. A typical result is the following one: For any finite sectionally complemented lattice \(U\) with more than two elements there exists a finite sectionally complemented chopped lattice \(M\) such that (i) \(M\) is the union of two ideals intersecting in the ideal \(U\) and (ii) the ideal lattice of \(M\) is not sectionally complemented.
