    Let \(p\) and \(a\) be two positive constants. Let \[ f=f_a(u)=\left\{ \begin{aligned} -| u| ^p, \qquad &\text{if}\;u<-a^{1/p},\\ -a, \qquad &\text{if}\;-a^{1/p}u<-a^{1/p},\\ -| u| ^p, \qquad &\text{if}\;u>a^{1/p}, \\ \end{aligned} \right. \] and \[ G_{f_a}(\rho)=\sqrt 2 \int^\infty_\rho \frac 1{\sqrt{ F_a(\rho)-F_a(u)} }du, \] where \(F_a(u)=\int^u_0 f_a(t)dt\). The authors studied the shape and structure of the bifurcation curve \(G_{f_a}(\rho) \;=\sqrt \lambda\) with \(\rho:=\min_{x\in (0,1)}u(x)\), and \(u(x)\) is a solution of the boundary blow-up problem \[ \left\{ \begin{aligned} &-u''(x)=\lambda f(u(x))), \;\;\;0<x<1,\\ & \lim_{x\rightarrow 0^+} u(x)=\infty=\lim_{x\rightarrow 1^-} u(x). \end{aligned} \right. \] They show that \(\lim_{\rho\rightarrow\infty}G_{f_a}(\rho)=0\) and \(G_{f_a}(\rho)\) has exactly one maximum on \(R\). Furthermore, they determine the exact number of solutions of the problem for each \(\lambda>0\).
