The authors consider the Euler equations for the isentropic compressible flow in multidimensional space. The case of isothermal gas is considered. The piston problem is studied, i.e. the flow is at rest initially with the uniform distribution of the density in a small neighbourhood of the origin. This problem relates to explosive waves. The spherically-symmetrical shock front is present. The singularity at the origin appears initially. Existence of the global with respect to time entropy solution to the piston problem is proved. The technique is introducing an approximate solutions and proving their convergence. Linearization, Newton iteration, and the method of compensated compactness are used.
