The author studies the nonlinear initial value problem \[ \begin{cases} {l}u_{tt}+\delta u_t-m\left(\int_{\Omega}|\nabla u|^2\right)\Delta u+f(u)=0,\\ u(0,x)=u_0(x),\,\,\,u_t(0,x)=u_1(x),\,\,\,x\in\Omega,\,\,\,t\geq 0,\end{cases}\tag{P} \] where \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^n\) is a bounded open set, \(\delta>0\) and \(m\) is a locally Lipschitz continuous function. Under some assumptions on \(f\), \(u_0\) and \(u_1\) it is proved the existence, uniqueness and asymptotic behavior as \(t\to\infty\) for the solutions of \((P)\).
