A subgroup of a group \(G\) is said to be a modular subgroup if it is a modular element of the subgroup lattice of \(G\). The authors study groups satisfying the minimal condition on non-modular subgroups and groups in which non-modular subgroups fall into finitely many conjugacy classes. The main results are the following two very predictable theorems. Theorem 2.5. Let \(G\) be a locally graded group satisfying the minimal condition on non-modular subgroups. Then either \(G\) is a Chernikov group or the subgroup lattice of \(G\) is modular. Theorem 3.2. Let \(G\) be a locally graded group with finitely many conjugacy classes of non-modular subgroups. Then either the subgroup lattice of \(G\) is modular or \(G\) is a Chernikov group whose center has finite index and all infinite subgroups of \(G\) are modular.
