This paper is devoted to the study of renormalized solutions for a class of nonlinear unilateral problems with lower order terms of polynomial type and measure data. The proofs are based on standard approximations of Radon measures with smoother functions. A similar approach has been developed in other previous papers for the study of renormalized solutions for boundary value problems in \(L^1\) or involving measure data. We refer to the following papers which are not mentioned in the list of references: [\textit{M. Bocea} and \textit{V. Radulescu}, Math. Nachr. 198, 5--17 (1999, Zbl 0921.35116)] and [\textit{V. Radulescu} and \textit{M. Willem}, Differ. Integral Equ. 16, 221--229 (2003, Zbl 1161.35374)]. In a particular case the authors establish the uniqueness of the renormalized solution.
