Let \(X\) and \(Y\) be Banach spaces and \(X\bigotimes_\lambda Y\) be the injective tensor product of \(X\) and \(Y\). Assume that \((Y_n)_{n\in\mathbb{N}}\) is a Schauder decomposition of \(Y\) (i.e., every \(y\in Y\) has a unique representation of the form \(y=\sum_{n=1}^\infty y_n\) where \(y_n\in Y_n\) for \(n\in\mathbb{N}\)). The authors prove that then \((X\bigotimes_\lambda Y_n)_{n\in\mathbb{N}}\) is a Schauder decomposition of \(X\bigotimes_\lambda Y\). Several applications of this theorem are given. For instance, it is shown that \(X\bigotimes_\lambda Y\) has the approximation property if \(X\) has the approximation property and \(Y\) has a basis. Moreover, there are given some results on the representing measure of a bounded linear operator \(T:C(H,Y)\rightarrow Z\) where \( H\) is a compact Hausdorff space, \(Z\) and \(Y\) are Banach spaces and \(Y\) has a Schauder decomposition.
