Let \(\widetilde J\) be an almost complex structure on a pseudo-Riemannian manifold \((\widetilde M, \widetilde G)\). \(\widetilde J\) is called an almost anti-Hermitian structure if \(\widetilde G(\widetilde JX,\widetilde JY)+\widetilde G(X,Y)=0\). \textit{G.~T.~Ganchev} and \textit{A.~V.~Borisov} [C. R. Acad. Bulg. Sci. 39, No. 5, 31--34 (1986; Zbl 0608.53031)] classified almost anti-Hermitian manifolds by considering the vector space \(\mathcal F\) of tensors of type (0,3) on a real vector space \(V\) satisfying the same identities as a 3-covariant tensor field \(F\) on an almost anti-Hermitian manifold \((\widetilde M, \widetilde G,\widetilde J)\) defined by \(F(X,Y,Z)=\widetilde G((\nabla_ X\widetilde J)Y,Z)\). They obtained 3 natural irreducible invariant subspaces \(\mathcal F_ i\) of \(\mathcal F\) as a decomposition of \(\mathcal F\) into orthogonal components invariant under the action of the semi-unitary group of \(\mathcal F\). Thus they obtained 8 basic classes of almost anti-Hermitian manifolds. Let \((M,g)\) be a Riemannian manifold with the tangent bundle \(TM\). In this paper, the authors consider a family of natural almost anti-Hermitian structures \((G,J)\) on \(TM\), where the pseudo-Riemannian metric \(G\) is a lift of natural type of \(g\) to \(TM\) such that the vertical and horizontal distributions \(VTM\) and \(HTM\) are orthogonal to each other, and the almost complex structure \(J\) is a usual natural lift of \(g\) of diagonal type interchanging \(VTM\) and \(HTM\). They study the conditions under which the almost complex structure \(J\) defines an almost anti-Hermitian structure on \(TM\). Finally, they obtain conditions under which this structure belongs to one of the eight classes of anti-Hermitian manifolds obtained in the classification of Ganchev and Borisov.
