Let \(V\) be a vector space over a not necessarily commutative field. If \(Z,Y\) are subspaces of \(V\) such that \(Z\subset Y\) and \(\dim Z=k-1=\dim Y-2\) then \(\mathbf p(Z,Y)\) denotes a \(k\)-pencil of \(k\)-dimensional subspaces in \(Y\) that contain \(Z\). Let \(\mathbf P_k(V)\) be the partial geometry of a set of \(k\)-subspaces with the \(k\)-pencils as a set of lines and \(\mathbf p(Z,Y)\) to be segment subspaces. The notion of the central projection in spaces of pencils is generalized and new concepts of projections are introduced. The category of projectivities with segment subspaces as objects arises. These general projectivities are collineations given by linear maps. Properties of pencils of segment subspaces and projections between segments are investigated. Classical projections of lines onto pencils of hyperplanes are considered in terms of spaces of pencils as projections of lines onto pencils of segment subspaces.
