\textit{A. Inoue} [Mem. Fac. Sci. Kyushu Univ., Ser. A 25, 197--235 (1971; Zbl 0227.46060)] defined locally C*-algebras. These are locally convex multiplicatively convex algebras having suitable families of C*-seminorms. He also defined their representation theory on locally Hilbert spaces, i.e., projective limits of directed sets of Hilbert spaces with suitable embeddings. A locally W*-algebra as a projective limit of W*-algebras, see \textit{M. Fragoulopoulou} [Yokohama Math. J. 34, 35--51 (1986; Zbl 0644.46042)], was shown in an earlier article to coincide with a weakly closed subalgebra of operators on some locally Hilbert space. A locally von Neumann algebra is a concrete realisation of a locally W*-algebra. The author develops some properties, analogues of results for von Neumann algebras. For example every element has a polar decomposition and every locally von Neumann algebra is the dual of some locally convex space. For a locally von Neumann algebra \(M\) the weak and strong continuity of a continuous linear functional are shown to be equivalent. Also \(M^{*}\) and \((M_{*})^{*}\) are isomorphic as locally convex spaces. Defining boundedness in terms of the supremum over the set of all continuous seminorms, the author shows that the bounded part of a locally Hilbert space is a W*-algebra. [For part I see Bull. Math. Soc. Sci. Math. Roum., Nouv. Sér. 42, No.~1, 51--64 (1999; Zbl 0953.46031).]
