    Let \(C\) be a mod 2 DG-bialgebra. Then, by Adams, the multiplication of the cobar construction \(\Omega C\) of \(C\) is homotopy commutative: there exists a product \(\smile_1\colon \Omega C \otimes \Omega C \to \Omega C\) such that \(d(a \smile_1 b) = da \smile_1 b + a \smile_1 db + a \cdot b + b \cdot a\). The author shows that \(\smile_1\) gives rise to a sequence of operations \(E_{1,k} \colon \Omega C \otimes (\Omega C)^{\otimes k} \to \Omega C\) \((k=1,2,3,\dots)\), which form the structure of a homotopy G-algebra on \(\Omega C\). There are two known examples of homotopy G-algebras: the cochain complex of a 1-reduced simplicial set and the Hochschild cochain complex \(C^*(U,U)\) of an associative algebra \(U\). The author gives a third example where \(E_{1,1}\) is Adams' \(\smile_1\)-product.
