An important conjecture of R. Wiegand (due in 1986) states that every two-dimensional domain \(A\) that is finitely generated \(\mathbb Z\)-algebra has prime spectrum order-isomorphic to that of \(\mathbb Z[X]\) [see \textit{R. Wiegand}, J. Puer Appl. Algebra 40, 209--214 (1986; Zbl 0592.13002)]. After that, some steps into its proving were made by A. Li and S. Wiegand, but it remained still open. The aim of this paper is to prove the following theorem, which gives more evidence for the conjecture: ``Let \(D\) be an order in an algebraic number field and suppose \(B\) is a finitely generated birational extension of \(D[x]\). Then Spec\((B)\) is order-isomorphic to Spec\((\mathbb Z[x])\)''.
