This paper obtains two types of bivariate Hermite subdivision schemes of degree 2 which are \(C^2\) and whose support is the unit square. Such local schemes provide solutions to the problem of constructing a surface that interpolates the values of a function and its partial derivatives of orders 1 and 2 at the vertices of the square. The bivariate schemes are built using two univariate Hermite subdivision schemes proposed by \textit{J.-L. Merrien} [Numer. Algorithms 2, No.~2, 187--200 (1992; Zbl 0754.65011) and M2AN, Math. Model.\ Numer. Anal. 33, No.~1, 55--65 (1999; Zbl 0920.65002)]. The analysis of the convergence and smoothness of the bivariate algorithms is based on estimates of a Hölder exponent. The local algorithms are used to construct \(C^2\) Hermite interpolating surfaces with data on a semiregular rectangular mesh and the quality of these surfaces is illustrated in two examples.
