Extending the result of \textit{Y. Yoshino} [in: Commutative algebra, singularities and computer algebra. Proc. NATO res. workshop, Romania 2002, NATO Sci. Ser. II, Math. Phys. Chem. 115, 255--273 (2003; Zbl 1071.13505)], the main result of this paper, theorem 1.2 shows that the residue class field of a henselian non-Gorenstein local ring \(R\) of depth 0 does not admit a \({\mathcal G}(R)\)-precover as an \(R\)-module in \({\mathcal G}(R)\) where \({\mathcal G}(R)\) is the full subcategory of finitely generated modules of Gorenstein dimension 0. In particular, the category \({\mathcal G}(R)\) is not precovering in the category of all finitely generated \(R\)-modules. As a consequence the author shows that there are infinitely many isomorphism classes of finitely generated indecomposable \(R\)-modules of Gorenstein dimension 1.
