A generalization of Nicholson's blowfies model is studied. The population is divided into mature and immature. The delay is considered to be state dependent. Also a general birth function is used. Sufficient conditions for the boundedness, positivity (hence persistence) of the solutions are shown. Sufficient conditions for the existence of a positive equilibrium and its local asymptotic stability are derived. Sufficient conditions for the global stability of the extinction solution are given. Numerical solutions indicate the existence of a robust periodic solution.
