Estimates and nonexistence of solutions of the scalar curvature equation on noncompact manifolds (Q2572425)

The author studies the solutions of a partial differential equation on a Riemannian manifold. Given a Riemannian manifold, the problem to find a conformal metric such that its scalar curvature is equal to a fixed function, is equivalent to finding a positive solution of an elliptic partial differential equation, called the conformal scalar curvature equation. The author proves some estimates and properties of supersolutions of the equation on manifold with nonpositive curvature. He also obtains some nonexistence results for complete solutions of scalar curvature equations.
