The authors present a domain decomposition algorithm with nonmatching grids for solving Dirichlet exterior boundary problems, based on a coupling of finite element methods (FEM) and boundary element methods (BEM). An error estimate is also proved, together with an analysis of the convergence for Dirichlet-Neumann alternating algorithm for solving the coupled discrete system.
