The authors first present the necessary and sufficient conditions which control points of a Bézier curve need to satisfy in order that it interpolates given positional, tangent, curvature, and torsion data [cf. \textit{L. Xu} and \textit{J. Shi}, Comput. Aided Geom. Des. 18, 817--829 (2001; Zbl 0984.68163)]. It is also shown that a conjecture of \textit{K. Hollig} and \textit{J. Koch} [Comput. Aided Geom. Des. 12, 567--580 (1995; Zbl 0875.68851)] on approximation of a space curve by splines of degree less than or equal to \( d \) is true for \(d = 5\).
