The author gives a survey of results, mainly due to Mecchia, Reni, the author, and Zimmermann, about the determination of hyperbolic knots by their cyclic branched covers. She points out the difference for the case of a \(2\)-fold cover (which may be Seifert-fibered or contain essential tori) and \(n\)-fold covers for \(n \geq 3\) (which are usually hyperbolic). She notes that a hyperbolic knot is determined by any three of its cyclic branched covers of orders \(\geq 3\). Two covers suffice if their orders are not coprime, and the author gives various sufficient conditions for a knot to be determined by one or two of its cyclic branched covers and examples of hyperbolic knots with two common cyclic branched covers. Finally she obtains a sufficient condition for a hyperbolic link to be determined by three cyclic branched covers.
