Let \(B\) denote the unit ball in real \(n\)-space and \(h(B)\) the space of hyperbolic harmonic functions on \(B\). For \(\beta>-1\) we define the normalized measure \(dV_\beta\) in \(B\) given by \(dV_\beta=C_\beta (1-|x|^2)^\beta dV(x)\) where \(dV\) is the normalized Lebesgue measure in \(B\). The authors pose a Gleason type problem in \(h^p(B,dV)_\beta)= h(B)\cap L^p(B,dV_\beta)\) as follows: for each \(a=(a_1,\dots,a_n)\in B\) there exist bounded linear operators \(A_{j,a}\) from \(h^p(B,dV_\beta)\) into \(L^p(B,dV_\beta)\) for \(1\leq j\leq n\) such that for all \(f\in h^p(B, dV_\beta)\) we have \(f(x)-f(a)=\sum^n_{j=1}(x_j-a_j)(A_{j,a}f)(x)\) at each \(x=(x_1,\dots,x_n)\in B\). The original Gleason problem was posed for the open unit ball \(\Omega\) in complex \(n\)-space for the algebra of functions holomorphic in \(\Omega\) and continuous on \(\overline\Omega\). The present authors solve their problem with the help of a reproducing formula in \(h^p(B,dV_\beta)\) derived from the Berezin transformation. They also obtain estimates for the norms of the \(A_{j,a}\).
