The author provide some sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of solutions of the \(2n\)th-order Lidstone problem \[ \begin{aligned} & (-1)^n u^{(2n)}=f(x, u, u^{(2)}, \cdots,u^{(2(n-1))}),\quad 0<x<1,\\ & u^{(2i)}(0)=u^{(2i)}(1)=0, \qquad \qquad 0\leq i\leq n-1.\end{aligned} \] He establishes a new maximum principle and then, developes the method of upper and lower solutions and the monotone iteration technique to this problem.
