The author presents new results concerning the \(\gamma \)-function \[ \gamma (z)= \frac{[ (1-e^{-2i\pi (z-\tau )})(1-e^{-2i\pi (z-2\tau )})(1-e^{-2i\pi (z-3\tau )})\dots]} {[ (1-e^{-2i\pi z/\tau })(1-e^{-2i\pi (z+1)/\tau })(1-e^{-2i\pi (z+2)/\tau })\dots]} \] (also called double sine or noncompact quantum dilogarithm), where \(\tau \) is a fixed complex number such that \(Im\, \tau >0\), \(| e^{i\pi \tau }| <1\) and \(| e^{-i\pi /\tau }| <1\). Some of these results have been obtained by following the analogy with Euler's Gamma function suggested by the difference equations \(\gamma (z+\tau )/\gamma (z)=1-e^{-2i\pi z}\) and \(\gamma (z+1)/\gamma (z)=1-e^{-2i\pi z/\tau }\) satisfied by \(\gamma \)-function, very similar to the famous relation \(\Gamma (z+1)/\Gamma (z)=z\).
