Isomorphism classes of split extensions of a group \(H\) by a group \(G\) are in bijection with actions of \(H\) on \(G\). A modern approach to this due to \textit{D. Bourn} and \textit{G. Janelidze} [``Protomodularity, descent, and semidirect products'', Theory Appl. Categ. 4, 37--46 (1998; Zbl 0890.18003)] begins with the observation that semidirect product determines an equivalence of categories between the category of all actions of all groups on all others and the category of so-called points in the category of groups. The holomorph of a group \(G\) is a group, containing \(G\) as a subgroup, whose inner automorphisms include all the automorphisms of \(G\). The purpose of the present paper is to generalize these ideas to categorical groups and so extend results of \textit{A. Garzón} and \textit{H. Inassaridze} [``Semidirect products of categorical groups. Obstruction theory'', Homology Homotopy Appl. 3, 111--138 (2001; Zbl 0984.18005)].
