Let \(x: M^n\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{n+1}\) be an isometric immersion of a hypersurface in the Euclidean space. Let us denote by \(N,\, \mu\) the Gauss map and induced measure, respectively. This paper studies Euclidean hypersurfaces which are stable with respect to parametric functionals of the type \[ \mathcal{F}(x)=\int_M F(N)\, d\mu\, , \] where \(F\) is a smooth function satisfying the homogeneity condition \(F(tz)=tF(z),\, z\in \mathbb{S}^n,\;t>0 \) which is also elliptic, that is \(F_{zz}(z)= (\frac{\partial ^2F}{\partial z^\alpha\partial z^\beta})_{\alpha,\beta=1,\dots,n+1}: z^\bot\rightarrow z^\bot \) is a positive definite endomorphism for all \(z\in \mathbb{S}^n\). Taking \( F(z)=A(z):=|z|\) as the area integrand, one sees that these hypersurfaces generalize the minimal ones. The author has obtained in [S. Winklmann, Integral curvature estimates for F-stable hypersurfaces. Calc. Var. Partial Differential Equations 23 (2004), N4, 391--414] an integral curvature estimate for \(F\)-stable hypersurfaces provided that \(\mathcal{F}\) is chosen close enough to the area functional \(\mathcal{A}(x)=\int _M d\mu\). The main result of this paper is contained in theorem 1.1., where he proves a pointwise curvature estimate for \(F\)-stable hypersurfaces given that \(n\leq 5\) and \(F\) is close enough to the area integrand. Several direct consequences can be obtained from the theorem. Thus, he gives a Berstein type result and (by choosing \( F(z)=A(z)\) as the area integrand) the theorem reduces to the pointwise curvature estimate of Schoen, Simon and Yau [\textit{R. Schoen, L. Simon} and \textit{S. T. Yau}, Acta Math. 134, 275--288 (1975; Zbl 0323.53039)] for stable minimal hypersurfaces. It also extends the pointwise curvature estimate for minimizers of \(\mathcal{F}\) of Simon [\textit{L. Simon}, Math. Z. 154, 265--273 (1977; Zbl 0388.49026)], although Simon's result is valid for \(n\leq 6\). In order to prove theorem 1.1., the author uses a generalized Simon's inequality and an equivalent form of the integral curvature estimate obtained in [\textit{S. Winklmann}, Calc. Var. Partial Differ. Equ. 23, No. 4, 391--414 (2005; Zbl 1075.53053)], along with a version of the Michael-Simon Sobolev inequality [\textit{J. H. Michael} and \textit{L. Simon}, Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 26, 361--379 (1973; Zbl 0256.53006)] in order to get an \(L^p\) estimate for the curvature. Finally he proves the theorem by a combination of the latter estimate and a Moser type iteration argument.
