We call \(n\in\mathbb Z^+\) a cobalancing number if \(1+2+\cdots +n = (n+1)+(n+2)+ \cdots +(n+r)\) for \(r\in \mathbb Z^+\). Here \(r\) is called the cobalancer corresponding to the cobalancing number \(n\). Many properties of cobalancing numbers are explored, e.g., recurrence relations, generating functions, Binet forms. A link between Pythagorean triplets and the cobalancing numbers is also established.
