An ideal \(I\) is called an SFT-ideal if there exist a natural number \(n\) and a finitely generated ideal \(J\) in \(I\) such that \(xn\) belongs to \(J\) for each \(x\) in \(I\). An SFT-ring is a ring such that every ideal is an SFT-ideal. The authors' goal is to prove the following result: Let \(D\) be a Prüfer domain. Then every prime ideal of \(D((X))\) is formally extended from \(D\) if and only if \(D\) is SFT.
