The notion of a Hamiltonian total differential system \[ dp=\sum_{j=1}^m\frac{\partial H_j(t,p,q)}{\partial q}dt_j,\quad dq=\sum_{j=1}^m\frac{\partial H_j(t,p,q)}{\partial p}dt_j \] is introduced and some their properties are established. The spectrum of linear Hamiltonian systems with periodic coefficients is defined. An analog of the Lyapunov-Poincaré theorem on the symmetry of the spectrum (known for a periodic Hamiltonian system of ODEs) is proved. A stability criterion in terms of eigen- and root-spaces of the monodromy matrices is obtained. Under some additional assumptions, the preservation of stability under small \(\Omega\)-periodic and Hermitian perturbations of Hamiltonians is proved.
