    The authors deal with the existence of positive solutions for the higher-order singular boundary value problem \[ (-1)^my^{(2m)}=f(t,y),\qquad 0<t<1, \] \[ y^{(i)}(0)=y^{(i)}(1)=0,\qquad i=0,\dots,m-1, \] where \(f:[0,1]\times(0,+\infty)\rightarrow(0,+\infty)\) is continuous and satisfies the inequality \[ (2m)!\varepsilon\leq f(t,y)\leq Cy^{-\gamma},\qquad (t,y)\in(0,1)\times(0,\varepsilon), \] for some constants \(\varepsilon>0, C>0\) and \(\gamma\in(0,\frac{1}{m})\). The tool is a variational approach, detailed information can be seen in [\textit{R. P. Agarwal} and \textit{D. O'Regan}, J. Differ. Equations 170, 142--156 (2001; Zbl 0978.34018)].
