Let \(X\) be a Banach space and let \({\mathcal A}\) denote a class of \(X\)-valued functions or distributions. The authors consider the set \({\mathcal D}'_{{\mathcal A}}({\mathbb R},X)\) consisting of those vector valued distributions \(T\) with the property that \(T \ast \varphi \in {\mathcal A}\) for every test function \(\varphi \in {\mathcal D}({\mathbb R}).\) In the case that \(X = {\mathbb C}\) and \({\mathcal A}\) is the set of almost periodic continuous functions, then \({\mathcal D}'_{{\mathcal A}}({\mathbb R},{\mathbb C})\) consists of all almost periodic distributions in the sense of Schwartz. The iteration process \({\mathcal A} \to {\mathcal D}'_{{\mathcal A}}({\mathbb R},X)\) is complete in the sense of the following result. Theorem. Let \({\mathcal A} \subset {\mathcal D}'({\mathbb R},X)\) be closed under addition and let us put \({\mathcal B}:= {\mathcal D}'_{{\mathcal A}}({\mathbb R},X).\) Then \[ {\mathcal D}'_{{\mathcal B}}({\mathbb R},X) = {\mathcal D}'_{{\mathcal A}}({\mathbb R},X). \] Under additional assumptions on \({\mathcal A}\), several characterizations of \({\mathcal D}'_{{\mathcal A}}({\mathbb R},X)\) are obtained in section 2. Section 3 provides examples of classes for which the results of section 2 can be applied. We mention, for instance, the classes of vector valued almost periodic functions, Eberlein weakly almost periodic functions and various classes of ergodic functions. Section 4 gives an extension to \({\mathcal D}'_{{\mathcal A}}({\mathbb R},X)\), for various \({\mathcal A},\) of the following Bohl-Bohr-Amerio-Kadets theorem: If \(f:{\mathbb R} \to X\) is Bohr-Bochner almost periodic and its indefinite integral \(Pf\) is bounded on \({\mathbb R}\), then \(Pf\) is also almost periodic, provided that \(c_0\) is not isomorphic to a subspace of \(X.\) The final section gives an application to the study of the asymptotic behavior of distributional solutions of neutral integro-differential-difference systems.
